The 8 Channel Converter combines 4 channels that are identical to those
of the PN 701057 8 Channel Interface, but includes board jumpers to
allow DATA inversion. In addition, there are 4 channels that accept
DATA and
CLOCK input at RS422 levels and generate a bipolar AMI output, which
can be encoded B6ZS, B8ZS or HDB3. Front panel controls include
T1/E1 selection
and ENCODE/AMI (transparent) settings for each channel. DATA and CLOCK
activity are indicated by red LEDs on the front panel. The input rate
is selected on the rear panel for T1 or E1 input rates.
This unit also contains a Test Pattern Generator which is controlled
by rear panel switches for each set of 4 channels. When the tester
is turned on, the first channel of each section is no longer available
for signal input since it is generating tester output. R3, R7 and R15
test patterns are selected by on-board jumpers. CLOCK can also be inverted
by on-board jumper.
